Quilt Festival Winners Announced

Best of Show- Vintage Rouge by Mary Clendennen & Angela Steiner, quilt is 78 x 78" quilted by Angela McCorkle. This Christmas quilt was designed by Vickie Burgos using Faye Burgos “Vintage Rouge Strip-it-Fabric” by Marcus. A very fun project! It was pieced by Mary and Appliquéd by Angela Steiner

Appliqué award- Romeo Loved Holidays
by Sue Kersey, quilt Size  38" x 48", Pieced, Appliquéd and quilted by Sue.  I made this quilt in memory of my beloved cat Romeo that was part of our lives for 16 years. He was a delight in our hearts. The pattern is by Bonnie Sullivan called Tuxedo’s Tales.

Pieced Award - Batik "Bright Lights"  by Gail Craig, Quilt size 65" x 82", Pieced by Gail and Quilted by Alan & Peggy Bristow.  In November of 2016, our Highland Lakes Quilt Guild had a workshop by Toby Lischko – an 8” New York Beauty block using freezer paper piecing. After the workshop I decided it was time to start and complete a New York Beauty quilt, using my stash of batik fabrics. I found patterns for several beautiful 16 blocks on line by Tobacco Shed Quilts (copyright 2015).

Miniature Award- Lady Bug Garden  by Melinda Noonan, Quilt Size 19.5" x 21.5", pieced, appliquéd and quilted by Melinda Noonan.   This miniature is from the book, Quilts from Grandmothers Garden” by Jaynette Huff. These are ¼ “ hexagons. They are English paper pieced. Take a close look and see the tiny ladybugs.
